Know Your Learning Style
Your tutor will give you a learning styles activity. Get to know your own learning style, or styles, and use this knowledge to help you to learn better.
Visual learners: learn by seeing
Kinaesthetic learners: learn by doing
Auditory learners: learn by talking & listening
Some people tend to have one dominant learning style. However, it is also common to have a mix of all three. The important thing is to understand what you can do to help yourself to learn better.
A visual learner might benefit from colour coding notes and using mind-maps.
A kinaesthetic learner might benefit from taking regular breaks, and activities that involve movement. Mind-maps would provide an opportunity to draw notes intead of writing notes, which could help concentration.
Auditory learners learn by hearing. Opportunities to discuss learning with a partner would be useful. Taking time to explain the learning to someone else would help to support their learning.
Example:
Bob has a visual learning style. At work, the trainers tend to give lectures. Bob finds it hard to concentrate when he is just listening with nothing to look at. Bob's buddy suggested he makes notes, using images to capture key points, and highlighters to colour code important topics. (Would this help you?)
